“DUA” is an invocation or a prayer of supplication/request to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) in order to grant ones needs.

Prophet Muhammad (May Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon Him) said:

"Dua is an essence of Worship."

Before we recommend the Dua for Coronavirus or Dua for Protection from Coronavirus or Any Evil Diseases, lets discuss What is Coronavirus, Types of these viruses and Prevention/Precautions to be taken in order to protect oneself from these types of viruses.

What is Coronavirus?

Coronaviruses (CoV) are the types of viruses that are spread or transmitted between animals and humans. Corona viruses can affect humans from the normal illness such as common cold to severe causes like pneumonia, kidney failures, affecting the respiratory system, and even deaths.

Types of Coronaviruses:

There are three types of Corona-viruses that have been identified until now. They are:

1.   Middle East Respiratory Syndrome - Corona Virus (MERS-CoV)
2.  Severe AcuteRespiratory Syndrome - Corona Virus (SARS-CoV)
3.  Novel Corona virus (nCoV)

1.  Middle East Respiratory Syndrome - 

Corona Virus (MERS - CoV)

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus is a virus spread from direct or indirect contacts with infected camels to humans.

Studies suggested that at the end of year 2019, more than 900 cases were reported worldwide, and majority are reported from Saudi Arabia.

These types of corona viruses are being transmitted from human to human as well, from those who are infected and are travelling from one place to another.

2. Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome -

 Corona Virus (SARS-CoV)

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus is a virus spread or transmitted from cats, pigs or small mammals to humans, which causes acute respiratory distress or causes severe difficulty in breathing which eventually leads to death.

These types of corona virus can be spread or transmitted from human to human, when the infected human coughs or sneezes and the droplets are touched or the other human comes in contact with the droplets.

3.   Novel Coronavirus (nCoV)

Novel Coronavirus (nCoV)

Novel Coronavirus or (2019 novel Corona-virus) or COVID -19 a new type of virus which caused severe cases of pneumonia in the Wuhan City, Hubei province of China. This type of Corona virus is called as new type of corona virus as it did not match the other two types of known viruses stated above. How it is affecting the human is still under study.

These types of viruses also include common cold to acute pneumonia as the other two types Middle East  Respiratory Syndrome (MERS – CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV)

More than 4.25 million cases who are infected with such type of coronavirus have been reported around the world, from the late December 2019 until now.

Precautions from Corona virus

Coronavirus Precautions

To prevent infections from spreading from all the above coronavirus is stated below:

1.  Keep yourself clean by regularly washing your hands with soap up to 20 seconds,
2.  Cleansing your mouth and nose.
3.  When Coughing or Sneezing, cover your mouth or sneeze into your elbow or use tissue for sneezing and throw away the tissue immediately and wash hands with any disinfectant.
4.  Avoid eating half cooked food/meat.
5.  Avoid contacts with the infected animals in the market reported to be infected by Coronavirus.
6. Maintain Social Distance from one another by keeping at least 5 to 6 ft distance as per World Health Organisation guidelines

A Muslim keeps themselves clean by doing Ablution (wudu – act of washing oneself) five times a day.

Ablution includes :

1.   Washing of mouth and cleansing the nose/nostrils thoroughly or three times.
2.   Washing of face (from forehead to chin, from ear to ear) completely for three        times.
3.   Washing of Hands /Arms (From Fingers/Palms, forearms to Elbows) thoroughly or three times.
4.   Washing of feet from fingers up to ankles three times.

Ablution is done before praying. praying is one of the pillars of Islam.

Ablution for Praying

Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) mentioned in the Glorious Quran in Chapter 05, Surah Al Maidah, Verse Number 06 as:

O you who believe! When you rise up to perform prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows, and wipe your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in state of (Janabah) an obligation to perform total ablution, then purify yourselves and if you are sick or on a journey, or one of you come from the place of relieving himself or contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His Favor upon you that you may be grateful.

Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (May Allah’s Peace and Blessings upon Him) said:

Cleanliness is half of faith

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّیْ أَعُوْذُبِکَ مِنَ الْبَرَصِ، وَالْجُنُوْنِ، وَالْجُذَامِ، وَمِنْ
سَیِّءِ الاَسْقَامِ 

 Transliteration : "Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal – barasi, wal – jununi, wal – judhami, wa min sayyi’il – asqaam."

Translation : "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from Leucoderma (Vitiligo), Insanity, Leprosy and Evil Diseases."

Dua for Coronavirus

Dua for protection from any kind of harm or evil diseases:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِيْ لا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلا فِي الْسَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ

Transliteration : "Bismillahil-lazee la ya-dur-ru ma’as-mihi shai’un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama’i, wa Hu-was-Sami’ul-‘Alim."

Translation : "In the Name of Allah with Whose Name there is protection against every kind of harm in the earth or in the heaven, and he is the All-Hearing and All-Knowing"

Dua for Protection from Evil

 ‘Uthman bin ‘Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليهوسلم) said, “He who recites three times every morning and evening:

 ‘Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma’as-mihi shai’un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama’i, wa Huwas-Sami’ul-‘Alim

(In the Name of Allah with Whose Name there is protection against every kind of harm in the earth or in the heaven, and He is the All-Hearing and All- Knowing), nothing will harm him.”

Abu Dawud & At- Tirmidhi: Book 16, Hadith 1457.

Conclusion :

Oh, Allah protect everyone from these dreadful diseases.
